The Gall of that Bladder!

This will be a short post as I am still feeling as though I am on my third vodka martini as a result of residual pain meds administered to me over the past two days for my recent gallbladder attack. I am alive, but unable to drive. I did argue this point several times with Jim but now that I am emerging from the haze enough to feel the haze I am certain he is right. I will happily accept that I need a friend to accompany me to my surgery appt. today. However, unlike Jim I don't think they are going to slit me open right then and there in the office. I think this is the start of a long process. I'll be back to normal ASAP!!!!

And the winner is......Us!

Let me just start this quick post with a little confession. As much as I live for the Oscars and look forward to that Sunday night once a year when I can crack open a bottle of Champagne and wallow in two of my favorite things--fashion and movies, I must reveal that I fell asleep at 10:30 last night. I haven't even looked to see who the big winners were yet! I wanted to post untainted by anyone elses opinion. I LOVED the show last night! I laughed, I cried, I clapped like a crazy person more than once. I think the producers of the show nailed the way the country is feeling right now in the DIYesque show. Everyone looked beautiful. Hugh especially, I love a man who can sing and dance (and is more manly than most of the nominees!). OK all of that said, I am off to the telly to see who actually walked away with the statues while I enjoy my peanut butter toast and coffee. It's not champagne but at 6:45am it will have to do!

Bookaholic?

Confessions of a movieholic

A fan of all of the shopoholic books I was excited to traipse two of my daughters into the theatre this afternoon to enjoy the screen adaptation of not one but two of Sophie Kinsella's series of Rebecca Bloomwood books. From the first trailer I saw I was questioning why they took books set in England-moved them to New York-took an English actress and gave her an American accent and why oh why did they deprive me of seeing street scenes of my beloved London.
I wish I could answer these questions. While I did enjoy the movie despite the fact the deaf old woman behind me seemed to have forgotten that she wasn't in her living room and we had all paid to listen to the movie NOT her extremely loud complaints about it, I must admit I was a little dissapointed. Isla Fisher was adorable. All of the casting was great, right down to her Americanized parents played by Joan Cusak (personal fav) and John Goodman (Where the hell has he been?) but somehow the spark and appeal of the books was gone on the screen. I have come to expect this 40 years into my book to movie career but time after time I hope that this may be the one. This may be the movie that makes the leap successfully. Instead of being captivated by "Confessions of a Shopaholic" I found myself captivated by what I saw outside the theatre next door when I popped out to the Ladies room. A huge line had formed outside Tyler Perry's latest movie. I had to fight the urge to sneak in and see what all the fuss was about. In fact only the thought of the loud old lady abducting my abandoned daughters kept my from taking my place in the line-just for a peak of course. Next time I go to the movie I am going to branch out and see a great looking man dress up like a large woman who goes to prison. Obviously all of those people knew something I didn't.

Just another Manic Sunday

Jim and I got up at 4:45 am today to tag along with some friends on an airport run so that we could hit the flea market on the way home. Alas, the rain kept away all of the good vendors and we were left with the pervy cajun guy selling iron mermaids for way too much money.
It was worth it though as I had the best cappuccino of the last six months at a great little cafe in five points called "the third place" we had a great breakfast and I wanted to sandwich their bathroom walls between glass and solder them! They were a real life multi person collage complete with bathroom graffiti.

Willy Wonka--Willy Wonka!

Yes, we were the lucky golden ticket winners of a tour of Willy Wonka's factory. In honor of our friend Spencer's birthday we were invited to tour the secret room of the candy man himself. The photos below can only begin to touch on the wonders we saw . Hopefully they will give you a little glimpse into the special world of "Wonkaland".

Can you spot Grace and Jane?

"A proclomation"BY WIL

Spencer and his fabulously talented Wonka crazy Mom Lisa.

Look at Augustus' shoes!

Is that what I look like?

A dentist's dream!

Yes, there was a news crew.

Yum!

I should be cleaning right now. I guess we could all say that, believe me I would rather be reading or making anything than cleaning, but the dog and kid mess is threatening to take over. I have just signed up to make this a mobile blog. Hopefully that makes it easier to post, add photos etc. since if I have free time it usually happens away from my house. Thanks for being patient!
