Words

I am always amazed by the power of words. Every time I strike a letter with a hammer into metal letter stamp, it is a strike I can't take back. Straight, crooked, upside-down or rightside-up, that letter is forever emblazoned onto the metal beneath it.

Words are the same way. As soon as they leave our mouths they become a sound rather than a thought. We no longer have the intent to strike. We have stricken. The words may heal or encourage or inform or they may hurt and slander and villify. The older I get the more I appreciate the art of listening rather than talking. Of being the metal rather than the hammer and of deciding what I want to do with the words that are impressed upon me in life. I can look at them as imperfect and crooked or misspelled. Or I can choose to perceive them as quirky and one-of-a-kind explanations of someone else's outlook on life. I can take them any way I want to no matter what the intent behind them was. I can convert bad into good and good into bad. I am an alchemist of words. Really, when it comes down to it, I am the one who has to live with the words that leave me and the words that enter me and the only words I can choose to process any way I want are the ones that come in. And I welcome them all.

Trunk Show

The trunk show was a huge sucess. It was wonderful to have so many people come out to show their support. All of our hard work paid off when we the Halloween wonderland we had created was shared with our favorite friends. Even the creepy crawly ones made an appearance!

This was one of the first customers of the day. The poor thing grew tired of waiting for her necklace to be assembled and wasted away to nothing on the porch. At least she had a cute hat on. Check out Elizabeth's pillows keeping Ms Skeleton company on the swing. The witches legs were my favorite. We sold out of both witches legs pillows and Charms. What does that say about our clientle? Or maybe us! Feel free to visit us on http://www.twoelizabeths.weebly.com/ to find out about upcoming events!

Kitchen looking into butler's pantry

Yes. I thought it was the trunk show that slowed down my blogging pace. More photos from that later. However, It is the fact that we are moving and I am having to sell my house that really has thrown me for a loop! I have been getting it ready to stick that sign in the yard, which we did today. Now I have got to get back to Libby's World and fill my unfilled orders. Thank goodness for patient customers! Thanks to everyone for putting up with the craziness!

I love these guys!

Two of my favorite men joined forces on BBC Radio One Friday morning and I missed it!! I had it on my calendar and everything. If you have no idea who the cuties above are let me fill you in. On the right we have Chris Moyles DJ extraordinaire and host of the Chris Moyles show every weekday morning from 6:30-10:00am on BBC radio one. Get yourself to a sirius radio and check him out ASAP!
One the left we have Robbie Williams, or the Robster as those of us who are up close and personal like to call him. If you have never had the treat of hearing Robbie then head on over to itunes and download some deliciousness. Make sure to check out a few videos while you are there. Old school favorite right now would be "Radio"-you can't beat beat satanic cheerleaders. Newer favorite "Sin Sin Sin" yes this man does have a HUGE ego! I can't wait to see his new video "Bodies" in it's entirety. Let me know what you think! Have a great holiday weekend everyone!

The chicken or the egg?

As much as I love the blog "More Ways to Waste Time" this photo gave me traumatic second grade flashbacks. In Mrs. Vasquez's 2nd grade class we hatched chicken eggs and learned about how the chicken embryo developed etc. since then I have been unable to eat an egg unless that gelatinous white stringy thing (I'm sure it has a name) has been cooked to the consistency of concrete. When I saw this photo I almost lost it and I re-affirmed why it may be a good idea to avoid eggs altogether.
There is a happy/sad end to the second grade egg project. I got to keep on of the chicks. He was so cute and fluffy and I named him Clampsys. Then he grew up and became the ruler of our back garden, chasing down anyone who dared enter his domain and attacking with both beak and spurs. One day he was gone. My mother's theory was that the next door neighbors put a chicken hit out on him. Who really knows. What I do know is from the age of seven on I took my eggs over hard.

Too scared to scoot!

Red Scooter, originally uploaded by PDPhotography.

I loved having a scooter in college and often yearn for the zippy freedom and low gas mileage that those days held. However after stopping to assist in a scooter vs. road accident yesterday I think I may put the scooter fantasy on the back burner.

Driving down the street in my not so zippy red van I happened upon an man and his scooter sprawled out in the middle of the road. While another car had already stopped they didn't have a cell phone and seemed to be in a state of panic. I donned my super hero cape--jumped out of the car--called 911 and held the man's hand until help arrived.

I realized my dreams of a red vespa instead of a red van were one blown front tire away from it being me sprawled out on the concrete. I think I will re-think the scooter thing. I might be wimpy but I will be intact!

I Love Jeff Lewis

I was so wrapped up in old episodes of flipping out that I almost burned the bread I am making for church tomorrow! If Jim doesn't find a job I wonder if I could work for Jeff Lewis? I have a pretty thick skin--I mean my husband is from Long Island, how much worse could it get?

upstairs, downstairs

I am thrilled that Maggie is allowing me to use her room in her absence! Not only have I double the square feet of my studio and gained a great view of the neighborhood (just call me Mrs. Cravitz) but I get an added workout everyday running up and down the stairs. After my summer of sin I will still have to put in my gym time to undo my holiday damage but my new bi-level studio status may just make it a little easier.

Back from hiatus

After a summer of galavanting I am finally home! It has never felt so good to have my feet firmly back on North Carolina soil. I could however do without the NC humidity! If you scroll down you will see some yet to be edited photos of our worlwind tour of the Pacific Northwest. Yes, that is Edward Cullen-he tagged along as we are such a glamorous fun group of girls.

Elizabeth and I are gearing up for our mid-September trunk show. I feel as if I am playing catch up for a summer spent outside. I am trying to bring all of the ideas that have thundered through my brain in the past couple of months to fruition. This has been made a little easier as I have moved the sewing sweat shop upstairs to Maggie's bedroom now that she is away at school. She however doesn't know this yet so I will have to let you know how that goes. I am headed up there now to finish a couple of aprons and bring a monster to life. That is right after I take the dog for a walk! Summer isn't quite over yet!

portrait of me.

, originally uploaded by benbenbenbenben.

The drunken karaoke could still be heard in the winds.

I found this photo on flickr it is by Skorj. I am always drawn to take photos of staircases like this so it is nice to know someone shares my obsession. There is something about the circular infinite shape and all of the questions of destinations it brings to mind.

Shelf Envy!

DSC06360.JPG, originally uploaded by treefall design.

I love these bookshelves from treefall designs flickr studio set. One thing I am sorely missing in my studio is room for all of my books. I think they are procrating and spreading their offspring around the room at will! I would love to have shelves like these to corral them.

This is a test post from flickr, a fancy photo sharing thing.

Inspirations!

I definately need this many lamps to showcase the stack of books by my bed! Love the picture leaning against the wall. Who needs a nail?

I have been challenged many times by a long narrow room. I love the way color unites this space and even though there are different seating areas it welcomes all the way to the other end of the room.

I love the airiness of this room with a pop of color! What a great way to showcase an inoerable fireplace.
