portrait of me.

, originally uploaded by benbenbenbenben.

The drunken karaoke could still be heard in the winds.

I found this photo on flickr it is by Skorj. I am always drawn to take photos of staircases like this so it is nice to know someone shares my obsession. There is something about the circular infinite shape and all of the questions of destinations it brings to mind.

Shelf Envy!

DSC06360.JPG, originally uploaded by treefall design.

I love these bookshelves from treefall designs flickr studio set. One thing I am sorely missing in my studio is room for all of my books. I think they are procrating and spreading their offspring around the room at will! I would love to have shelves like these to corral them.

Inspirations!

I definately need this many lamps to showcase the stack of books by my bed! Love the picture leaning against the wall. Who needs a nail?

I have been challenged many times by a long narrow room. I love the way color unites this space and even though there are different seating areas it welcomes all the way to the other end of the room.

I love the airiness of this room with a pop of color! What a great way to showcase an inoerable fireplace.

this sucks

It sucks to be a mailman on a cold and rainy day.

It sucks to be a mailman on a cold and rainy day.

It sucks to me trapped inside with kids that should be at softball and Lacrosse practice.

It sucks to be my six year old vomiting her guts out on a cold and rainy day.

It sucks to be my dogs yowling and howling to go out and terrorized squirells in the mud.

It sucks to be my 12 year old having to clean her room and having every attempt at procrastination foiled.

It sucks to be a mailman on a cold and rainy day.

What a difference a day (or 2 makes!)

Thank God! I have broken out of the room below and onto the porch ahead! My bedroom that has been such a refuge over the past couple of weeks suddenly seemed to shrink as my constitution improved. The good news is I never really used my bedroom as a place to hang out- as a haven. There was always a kid or dog or husband that needed something. Now I know what a joy it is to close the doors and hide! I will definitly be doing more of it!

The Gall of that Bladder!

This will be a short post as I am still feeling as though I am on my third vodka martini as a result of residual pain meds administered to me over the past two days for my recent gallbladder attack. I am alive, but unable to drive. I did argue this point several times with Jim but now that I am emerging from the haze enough to feel the haze I am certain he is right. I will happily accept that I need a friend to accompany me to my surgery appt. today. However, unlike Jim I don't think they are going to slit me open right then and there in the office. I think this is the start of a long process. I'll be back to normal ASAP!!!!

And the winner is......Us!

Let me just start this quick post with a little confession. As much as I live for the Oscars and look forward to that Sunday night once a year when I can crack open a bottle of Champagne and wallow in two of my favorite things--fashion and movies, I must reveal that I fell asleep at 10:30 last night. I haven't even looked to see who the big winners were yet! I wanted to post untainted by anyone elses opinion. I LOVED the show last night! I laughed, I cried, I clapped like a crazy person more than once. I think the producers of the show nailed the way the country is feeling right now in the DIYesque show. Everyone looked beautiful. Hugh especially, I love a man who can sing and dance (and is more manly than most of the nominees!). OK all of that said, I am off to the telly to see who actually walked away with the statues while I enjoy my peanut butter toast and coffee. It's not champagne but at 6:45am it will have to do!
